How to use the Journaling Templates provided for each partyEvery girl will need her own Journaling Bible, colored pencils and a black outlining pen. A Journaling Bible has extra wide margins for drawing and writing. Usually the pages are thicker to accommodate the art. Blank notebooks can also be used. Journaling Bibles are easily found on Amazon or in local bookstores. There are many sizes and versions available. The dimensions of the Bible used in these examples are 9 1/2 inches by 7 inches x 2 inches. The blank space on each page measures 2 1/2 inches by 9 inches.
Colored pencils are easy to use. After coloring on a page, you should still be able to read the Bible verses through the colors, yet the coloring shouldn't bleed through the pages like paints and other markers sometimes can. Faber-Castell colored pencils were used in all the examples. They are a bit higher priced, but give a deep, rich color. The black pen used in these examples is a "Zig Writer," easily found at Michaels or other craft stores for @$2.99 each. This two sided pen has a thin marker side (0.5mm) and a thicker outline side (1.2mm). It is acid free and high quality. There is a black and white template for each party. Print one per girl and give out at the end of the corresponding party. They are meant to be done on their own as a way of remembering the Bible lesson of the day. These templates are sized for a margin of 2 1/2" x 9". However they can be reduced or enlarged to fit your Bible margins. Take the template and trace it onto the correct page in the Journaling Bible, then color it. In most Bibles, depending on the thickness of the pages, the template can be placed underneath a page, traced and then colored. If the page is too thick to see through for tracing, a light board or tracing paper can be used. The light board pictured is a "Huion Light Box" available on Amazon for $20-30. I love Bible Journaling. It causes me to slow down and think about a certain verse. It helps me connect with God’s Word and lets me be creative in a worshipful way. The template is a guide. It can simply be traced and colored in, or girls can get artistic and embellish the template more, or even draw their own design for a verse. With Bible Art Journaling, the possibilities are endless and fun. Girls may want to date their art, and of course, personalize it anyway they want; maybe write what they learned from a party. We hope that worshiping God in this creative way will continue outside the Girl Parties. Pinterest has many ideas; look under Bible Art Journaling ideas. Enjoy. |
